EP-NMRV-E150 Aluminium Coaxial Worm Gearbox — Overview

The EP-NMRV-E150 is a flagship coaxial aluminium worm gearbox and the largest and most powerful inline unit in the NMRV-E coaxial series, built around a 150 mm worm gear centre distance. The defining characteristic of the NMRV-E series is its coaxial (inline) output configuration: unlike the standard NMRV150 where the output shaft exits at 90 degrees to the input, the NMRV-E150 has both the motor input and the output shaft on the same axis. This inline layout eliminates lateral shaft offset, enabling significantly more compact drive assemblies for cement plant inline conveyors, mining crusher coaxial drives, large mixing inline systems. The unit retains the identical worm set, IEC-standard hollow bore input (100/112B5, 132B5, 160B5), and maximum output torque (16500 Nm) as the right-angle NMRV150 — only the output direction changes. With die-cast aluminium A360 housing, IP65 shaft sealing, and 7.5–100:1 ratio range, the EP-NMRV-E150 is engineered for cement plants, mining, and heavy industrial inline drive applications across Australia and international markets. All six mounting positions are supported, giving inline drive designers complete layout flexibility.

Core Features & Benefits

◯Coaxial Inline Output — Space-Saving Drive Layout
The defining feature of the EP-NMRV-E150: motor and output shaft aligned on the same axis. This eliminates the 90-degree lateral projection of a standard right-angle worm gearbox — reducing drive assembly width by up to 150 mm and enabling compact inline machine layouts in robotics, packaging, and conveyor applications.
△IEC-Standard Hollow Bore Input (100/112B5, 132B5, 160B5)
Hollow bore IEC input with motor flanges 100/112B5, 132B5, 160B5 allows direct motor mounting without adaptors. Compatible with standard AC motors, servo motors, and stepper motors — simplifying procurement and reducing commissioning time.
◆Corrosion-Resistant Die-Cast Aluminium Housing
A360 die-cast aluminium provides inherent corrosion resistance for food processing, pharmaceutical, coastal, and humid industrial environments — without the rust risk of cast iron. Smooth baked enamel surface is easy to clean in washdown zones.
■Identical Torque Rating to Right-Angle NMRV
The coaxial output configuration does not reduce torque capacity. The EP-NMRV-E150 delivers the same 16500 Nm maximum output torque as the standard NMRV150, using the same precision-ground worm set and phosphor bronze wheel.
▶Six Mounting Positions — Full Orientation Flexibility
B3, B6, B7, B8, V5, and V6 mounting positions are all supported, enabling horizontal, vertical, and angled inline drive arrangements. The coaxial configuration is particularly effective in V5/V6 vertical orientations where a right-angle drive would require a 90-degree shaft offset fitting.
●Static Self-Locking at Ratios ≥ 40:1
At gear ratios of 40:1 and above, worm geometry provides static self-locking — preventing back-drive under static load without an external brake. This property is identical to the right-angle NMRV150 as the worm set is unchanged.
EP-NMRV-E150 (Coaxial) vs EP-NMRV150 (Right-Angle) — When to Choose Each
The NMRV-E150 and NMRV150 are mechanically equivalent units sharing the same worm set, torque ratings, and IEC input flanges. The only difference is output shaft direction. Use this table to determine which configuration suits your machine layout.

Selection Guide, Mounting Positions & Shaft Details
How to Select the Correct Ratio
- Calculate required output torque: M₂ = 9,550 × P (kW) / n₂ (rpm), multiplied by service factor (fs = 1.0–2.5).
- Find your ratio: i = n_motor / n_output. Select the closest available ratio from 7.5–100:1.
- Confirm torque capacity: The selected ratio’s rated torque must exceed M₂ × fs. If not, step up to EP-NMRV-E130.
- Note on coaxial layout: In the NMRV-E series the output shaft and motor shaft are coaxial. Ensure your machine layout can accommodate the longer axial assembly (motor + gearbox length along one axis) compared to the compact width of a right-angle unit.

Important: For NMRV-E V5/V6 vertical mounting, use the NMRV-E lubrication diagram (not the standard NMRV diagram) to set the correct oil fill level, as the internal oil distribution differs in the coaxial configuration.
Frequently Asked Questions — EP-NMRV-E150
▶ What is the maximum torque of the EP-NMRV-E150 coaxial unit?
The EP-NMRV-E150 is the largest inline unit in the NMRV-E range, delivering up to approximately 16,500 Nm coaxially through a 70 mm output shaft. This makes it the flagship choice for cement plant inline conveyor drives, mining crusher coaxial secondary drives, and large-scale inline mixing gear systems.
▶ What motor power range does the EP-NMRV-E150 support?
The EP-NMRV-E150 accepts motors from 3.0 kW up to 15 kW. Compatible IEC flanges: 100/112B5, 132B5, and 160B5. The hollow bore accepts 42 mm and 45 mm motor shafts, accommodating the large motors required for cement and mining applications.
▶ How does the coaxial layout benefit cement plant inline conveyor drives?
Cement plant raw meal conveyors often run in narrow bays where lateral drive projection must be minimised. The NMRV-E150 coaxial layout allows the motor to mount axially behind the gearbox, keeping the full drive assembly width within the conveyor frame — saving an estimated 150–200 mm of lateral clearance versus a right-angle drive arrangement.
▶ What sealing is provided on the EP-NMRV-E150 for cement dust environments?
Standard IP65 shaft seals protect against fine cement dust in normal exposure. For continuous heavy dust environments, Viton shaft seals (available as a factory option) provide enhanced resistance to alkaline cement particles and elevated temperatures. Schedule quarterly seal inspection in cement plant environments.
▶ What is the weight of the EP-NMRV-E150?
The EP-NMRV-E150 weighs approximately 60 kg — slightly heavier than the right-angle NMRV150 (55 kg) due to the additional coaxial output housing section. Despite this, the aluminium construction still saves 20–25 kg versus a comparable cast iron coaxial worm gearbox, providing significant installation advantages on elevated conveyor structures.
▶ How does the EP-NMRV-E150 compare to the right-angle EP-NMRV150?
Both units deliver identical maximum output torque (16,500 Nm), use the same worm set, and accept the same IEC flanges. The NMRV-E150 is approximately 5 kg heavier and longer axially due to the coaxial output section, but eliminates the 90-degree output offset. Select NMRV-E150 for inline drive layouts; NMRV150 for right-angle configurations.
