Description

EP-NMRV-E110 Aluminium Coaxial Worm Gearbox — Overview

EP-NMRV-E110 aluminium coaxial worm gearbox inline output

The EP-NMRV-E110 is a large-frame inline aluminium worm gearbox and a large-frame inline unit in the NMRV-E coaxial series, built around a 110 mm worm gear centre distance. The defining characteristic of the NMRV-E series is its coaxial (inline) output configuration: unlike the standard NMRV110 where the output shaft exits at 90 degrees to the input, the NMRV-E110 has both the motor input and the output shaft on the same axis. This inline layout eliminates lateral shaft offset, enabling significantly more compact drive assemblies for steel mill inline drives, heavy mixer inline shafts, coaxial winch systems, port inline machinery. The unit retains the identical worm set, IEC-standard hollow bore input (90B5, 100/112B14, 100/112B5, 132B5), and maximum output torque (8000 Nm) as the right-angle NMRV110 — only the output direction changes. With die-cast aluminium A360 housing, IP65 shaft sealing, and 7.5–100:1 ratio range, the EP-NMRV-E110 is engineered for steel processing and heavy industrial inline drive trains across Australia and international markets. All six mounting positions are supported, giving inline drive designers complete layout flexibility.

Core Features & Benefits

NMRV-E110 aluminium worm gearbox internal structure

Coaxial Inline Output — Space-Saving Drive Layout

The defining feature of the EP-NMRV-E110: motor and output shaft aligned on the same axis. This eliminates the 90-degree lateral projection of a standard right-angle worm gearbox — reducing drive assembly width by up to 150 mm and enabling compact inline machine layouts in robotics, packaging, and conveyor applications.

IEC-Standard Hollow Bore Input (90B5, 100/112B14, 100/112B5, 132B5)

Hollow bore IEC input with motor flanges 90B5, 100/112B14, 100/112B5, 132B5 allows direct motor mounting without adaptors. Compatible with standard AC motors, servo motors, and stepper motors — simplifying procurement and reducing commissioning time.

Corrosion-Resistant Die-Cast Aluminium Housing

A360 die-cast aluminium provides inherent corrosion resistance for food processing, pharmaceutical, coastal, and humid industrial environments — without the rust risk of cast iron. Smooth baked enamel surface is easy to clean in washdown zones.

Identical Torque Rating to Right-Angle NMRV

The coaxial output configuration does not reduce torque capacity. The EP-NMRV-E110 delivers the same 8000 Nm maximum output torque as the standard NMRV110, using the same precision-ground worm set and phosphor bronze wheel.

Six Mounting Positions — Full Orientation Flexibility

B3, B6, B7, B8, V5, and V6 mounting positions are all supported, enabling horizontal, vertical, and angled inline drive arrangements. The coaxial configuration is particularly effective in V5/V6 vertical orientations where a right-angle drive would require a 90-degree shaft offset fitting.

Static Self-Locking at Ratios ≥ 40:1

At gear ratios of 40:1 and above, worm geometry provides static self-locking — preventing back-drive under static load without an external brake. This property is identical to the right-angle NMRV110 as the worm set is unchanged.

EP-NMRV-E110 (Coaxial) vs EP-NMRV110 (Right-Angle) — When to Choose Each

The NMRV-E110 and NMRV110 are mechanically equivalent units sharing the same worm set, torque ratings, and IEC input flanges. The only difference is output shaft direction. Use this table to determine which configuration suits your machine layout.

Selection Guide, Mounting Positions & Shaft Details

How to Select the Correct Ratio

  1. Calculate required output torque: M₂ = 9,550 × P (kW) / n₂ (rpm), multiplied by service factor (fs = 1.0–2.5).
  2. Find your ratio: i = n_motor / n_output. Select the closest available ratio from 7.5–100:1.
  3. Confirm torque capacity: The selected ratio’s rated torque must exceed M₂ × fs. If not, step up to EP-NMRV-E130.
  4. Note on coaxial layout: In the NMRV-E series the output shaft and motor shaft are coaxial. Ensure your machine layout can accommodate the longer axial assembly (motor + gearbox length along one axis) compared to the compact width of a right-angle unit.

Frequently Asked Questions — EP-NMRV-E110

▶ What sets the EP-NMRV-E110 apart for steel mill inline drives?

Steel processing lines often require coaxial drive arrangements where the motor, gearbox, and roll shaft must all align on one axis to fit within the machine’s rolling stand structure. The NMRV-E110 delivers up to 8,000 Nm coaxially through a 50 mm output shaft, fitting directly into steel coil line feeders and rolling mill auxiliary inline drives.

▶ What IEC motor flanges are compatible with the EP-NMRV-E110?

The EP-NMRV-E110 accepts IEC flanges 90B5, 100/112B14, 100/112B5, and 132B5, supporting 1.5–5.5 kW motors. The hollow bore accepts 28 mm and 38 mm motor shafts for direct motor coupling without adaptors.

▶ What is the self-locking performance of the EP-NMRV-E110?

Static self-locking (η < 0.5) is present at gear ratios of 40:1 and above in the NMRV-E110. This is identical to the right-angle NMRV110 as the worm set geometry is unchanged. For safety-critical vertical load retention in winch or hoist inline drives, install a certified external holding brake regardless of ratio.

▶ How does the NMRV-E110 thermal performance compare to cast iron in hot steel mills?

The A360 die-cast aluminium housing conducts heat approximately 3× faster than cast iron, keeping operating temperatures 10–15°C lower under equivalent load. For ambient temperatures up to 60°C, use synthetic ISO VG 220 oil. Above 60°C, contact our engineering team for thermal derating calculations.

▶ What are the overall dimensions of the EP-NMRV-E110 coaxial unit?

The NMRV-E110 coaxial housing length (A) is 255 mm with width (B) of 295 mm and height (C) of 170 mm — identical to the standard NMRV110 housing footprint. The additional coaxial output housing adds approximately 60–70 mm to the overall axial length compared to the right-angle version.

▶ What output shaft options are available for the EP-NMRV-E110?

The standard EP-NMRV-E110 features a single 50 mm coaxial solid output shaft with keyway. An output flange (FL suffix) is available for direct bolt-on connection. Note that double output shaft (DZ) configuration is not available in the E (coaxial) series.
