Universal W-Body Structure

WPWO universal cast iron worm gearbox structure

■ Universal W-Body Housing
The WPW-series universal housing is manufactured as a single FC20+ grey cast iron casting with bore positions, keyway orientations, and oil channels configured for the selected shaft direction. All 5 shaft direction configurations (A/B/C/D/E) use the same casting geometry with specific machining per configuration.
■ Worm Shaft
Hardened 20CrMnTi steel worm shaft with case-hardened tooth flanks (55–60 HRC). The worm shaft and its bearings are selected for the specific input orientation of the model — A-type (below), S-type (overhead), or bilateral — ensuring rated bearing life in the correct load direction.
■ Worm Wheel
Tin-bronze ZCuSn10Pb1 alloy worm wheel machined to mesh precisely with the hardened worm shaft. The bronze material provides excellent anti-seizure properties and wear-in characteristics for the worm gear mesh.
■ Output Shaft & Seal
Output shaft in quenched-and-tempered steel with double-lip oil seals rated for the specific output orientation (horizontal, vertical upward O-type, vertical downward X-type, side T-type, or extended V-type). Seal selection matches the hydrostatic pressure requirements of the installed orientation.
■ Oil System
Single-stage oil bath lubrication. Oil fill port, oil gauge, vent plug, and drain plug are positioned for the selected shaft direction configuration. Fill quantities are specified per configuration in the installation guide — do not use generic fill values across configurations.
■ Foot-Mount Base
FC20+ cast iron foot-mount base integrated with the housing casting. Four mounting holes for B3 foot mounting. The base orientation is fixed for the selected shaft direction configuration. For shaft-mount (hollow bore) applications, the torque arm boss provides housing restraint.

Core Features & Benefits

■ Universal W-Body + O Vertical Upward Output: Vertical Drive in Any Orientation

The WPWO provides the O-type vertical upward output shaft in all 5 WPW shaft direction configurations — the same vertical output direction is maintained regardless of which input orientation is selected.

■ O-Type Output Bearings Rated for Vertical Axial Load

Output shaft bearings are rated for full vertical upward axial loads — agitator and equipment hanging weight plus dynamic agitation reaction forces — across the full WP torque range.

■ O-Type Vertical Output Oil Seals — Double-Lip Premium

Vertical upward output shaft oil seals are double-lip premium seals rated for hydrostatic pressure in vertical orientation, identical specification to the single-orientation WPO.

■ Universal Body Oil System — O-Type Mode

WPW universal body oil channels accommodate the vertical output orientation. Orientation-specific fill quantities for O-type mode are specified in the WPWO installation guide.

■ 5 Input Shaft Direction Options for Vertical Output

Five shaft direction configurations provide diverse input shaft positions even with the fixed vertical upward output direction — allowing motor/input to be positioned for the most practical installation.

■ Output Torques to 4,796 Nm in Vertical Configuration

The O-type vertical upward output does not derate the WPWO torque rating. Full WP output torques are maintained through the vertical output shaft.

Quality Control & Certifications

Ever-power manufacturing facility

✎ ISO 9001:2000 Certified

Every WPWO is manufactured, assembled, and tested under ISO 9001:2000 quality management. Our factory was among the first in this product category to achieve this certification.

✎ CE Marking

Full CE marking confirms compliance with EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC — covering safety, design standards, and manufacturing quality for all WPW-series universal configurations.

✎ Pre-Shipment Testing

Noise test (below 72 dB(A) at rated load), oil leak test (30-minute pressurisation), torque transmission test (output torque within ±5% of rated). Failed units are reworked — not shipped.

✎ Universal Configuration Quality

Each shaft direction configuration (A–E) is verified dimensionally for correct bore position, keyway orientation, and oil channel routing before leaving our production line.

Customer Reviews & Case Studies

★★★★★

“WPWO is our standard vertical agitator drive for all vessel types. Universal body lets us specify one product for vessels mounted at various angles across our plant — all with vertical output. Maintenance uses one specification. Spare parts holding is one model. Exceptional practical value.”

Carol Stevens — Process Vessel Engineering Pty Ltd
Australia 🇦🇺
★★★★★

“We standardised on WPWO for our complete slow vertical mixer range across multiple plant orientations. Vertical output handles our top-entry agitators perfectly. Universal body means our technicians know one product for the whole facility.”

Jorge Almeida — Industria Quimica SA
Brazil 🇧🇷
★★★★★

“WPWO specified for our vessel drive standard. Universal orientation + vertical output satisfies our complete drive requirement in one catalogue number. GMP validation documentation for a standard catalogue product is much simpler than for a custom unit.”

Kim Dongwoo — Process Equipment Co.
South Korea 🇰🇷
4/5 ★★★★

“WPWO on our slow agitator drives. Universal body was the deciding factor — we have vessels in 3 different orientations. One gearbox type for all three, vertical output for all top-entry agitators. Good product quality, reliable delivery, consistent dimensions.”

Frequently Asked Questions — WPWO

▶ What is the maximum hanging load the WPWO vertical output shaft can support?
Axial hanging load capacity is specified per size in the WPWO suspension load table. For size 90: approximately 1,800N; size 130: approximately 2,800N; size 200: approximately 5,000N. Contact our application engineers for exact values at your specific ratio and input speed.
▶ How do I fill the WPWO oil chamber for vertical output orientation?
Use the WPWO installation guide’s O-orientation section for your shaft direction configuration. Fill levels for vertical output differ from horizontal operation. Do not overfill — excess oil in O-orientation increases churning losses and operating temperature.
▶ Is the WPWO available with IEC motor flange?
Yes — the WPWDO adds D-type IEC motor flange to the WPWO universal body + vertical output. See the WPWDO product entry.
▶ Is the WPWO available with hollow bore output?
Yes — the WPWKO combines K hollow bore with O vertical output in the universal body. See the WPWKO product entry for hollow shaft top-entry agitator applications.
▶ What is the minimum RPM achievable from the WPWO at 1/60 ratio?
At standard 1,500 RPM motor input: output = 1,500/60 = 25 RPM. With a 4-pole motor at full load (1,450 RPM actual): output ≈ 24.2 RPM. For slower speeds, use a higher-ratio gearbox or add a WPE double-stage unit. The WPWO range is 1/5–1/60 (300–25 RPM from 1,500 RPM input).
