WPDX Single Speed Cast Iron Worm Gearbox — WP Series

Inverted and below-floor drive applications that also require direct IEC motor mounting combine two specific engineering requirements that most standard gearboxes cannot address simultaneously. The WPDX Single Speed Cast Iron Worm Gearbox integrates the D-type IEC motor flange with the X-type vertically downward output shaft in one precision-machined cast iron housing. This combination serves OEM builders of below-floor conveyor systems, inverted mixer assemblies, and sub-floor material handling equipment who need the fewest possible components between motor and driven equipment without sacrificing drive performance or maintainability.

■ D+X: IEC Motor Flange + Vertical Downward Output — Single Unit

The WPDX eliminates the adaptor plate (replaced by D-flange) and the right-angle head (replaced by X-type output) while adding the field-maintainability of the D-split housing. Three components replaced by one.

■ D-Split Housing for Overhead Drive Station Maintenance

For drives mounted above head height, the D-split cover can be removed downward, allowing worm wheel access from below without a platform lift. This is a significant safety and cost advantage for maintenance in elevated installations.

■ X-Type Downward Output Seal — Hydrostatic Head Rated

Identical to the WPX, the WPDX downward output oil seal is specified for the increased sealing pressure created by the oil column resting on the seal face in vertical downward orientation.

■ IEC Motor Frame 56–355 Compatibility

Direct motor mounting across the full WPDX size range (40–250 centre distance) accepts all standard IEC motor frames used in below-floor and overhead drive applications — no adaptor rings needed.

■ Continuous Duty Rating at Vertical Output Orientation

The WPDX is rated for continuous duty with the motor horizontal (IEC flange) and output vertical downward. Both bearing arrangements and oil circuits are validated for this operating configuration.
